My journey into graphic design started back in high school through a technical program, back when it was still called “commercial art.” I still remember rallying a group of us to fundraise for a Mac that could run Photoshop 1.0. It was clunky and slow compared to today’s standards, but it felt like magic. That experience sparked a passion for design that has stayed with me ever since and gave me a deep appreciation for the creative process, no matter the tools involved.
Around the same time, I studied wheel-thrown ceramics at the Des Moines Art Center with David Dahlquist, now a renowned public artist. Working with clay taught me patience, an appreciation for imperfection, and a love of fine detail. Those early lessons continue to shape how I approach design today.
In my twenties, I launched a startup that sold Craftsman-style furniture online, well before e-commerce became the norm. To bring my ideas to life, I taught myself 3D rendering, web design, and even built interactive apps to showcase the products. One of my favorite projects was a commission for a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in Oak Park, Illinois. As demand grew, I sold the business and started a second one focused on custom garage interiors. That led to a retail showroom in Denver and high-end residential projects for some of the most valuable homes in the world. During that time, I also became a familiar face in local media with appearances on radio, TV, and even HGTV.
These experiences only strengthened my love for design and marketing. I later returned to school and earned five degrees in design, liberal arts, and marketing. Most recently, I completed a B.A. in Visual Communications from the Savannah College of Art and Design, graduating summa cum laude and earning multiple academic and service-based scholarships.
Since then, I’ve worked in agencies, consulted in the event and exhibit industries, and collaborated with clients ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies. I bring creative skill, a strategic mindset, and real-world business experience to every project. But more than anything, I value the relationships I’ve built through this work. I’m always excited to meet new collaborators and create something truly great together.
